Abstract
How do you motivate college students and businesses to work together in mutually rewarding partnerships? “Win/Win” projects using market research.
The Market Research Center program at Seton Hall University pairs student teams with business professionals looking for answers. Students work with businesses in semester long initiatives using market research to tackle real world problems. Initially, students and their business partners align on a specific business challenge. Then students conduct interviews, develop web-based surveys and translate data into meaningful results. Students utilize both qualitative and quantitative approaches to uncover insights and develop actionable recommendations to drive growth.
Businesses range from start-ups to large companies and cover a wide range of industries. The Market Research Center has worked with businesses in Food Services, Retail, Arts, Municipal, Education and Non-profits. Projects are truly “win/win”. Students get amazing hands-on experience with a real-world challenge and client. While businesses gain valuable insights and recommendations. Over 1,200 students and 120+ businesses have partnered together to complete over 250 projects over the past 10 years.
