For the past 20 years, Shane has developed and managed interdisciplinary programs and policies with a focus on sustainability, transformational learning, and the use of the campus as a living lab/classroom. In pursuit of these efforts, he has cultivated strong collaborations with colleagues in every corner of the University and community. Through these relationships he has helped develop a robust institutional culture of sustainability. Outside of his work with the University, he helped launch the Broke Spoke Community Bike Shop, a Lexington nonprofit committed to providing better access to better bicycles for all members of our community. Shane, his wife Jarahand their children Pax and Isabel, live in Lexington. As a family they are active social entrepreneurs and have launched several businesses including ArtPlay Children’s Studio, Kentucky Camp Company, and Puppy Club.
