Information | Duties and Responsibilities: Under general direction, works closely and collaboratively with statewide and regional economic development partners, the business and development community, ASU SkySong staff and University representatives to develop strategic alliances with potential and existing employers within targeted industry clusters.
Develops and leads initiatives regarding the attraction, retention, and expansion of private commercial entities to and within the Greater Phoenix market to ensure achievement of established goals, initiatives and objectives consistent with the ASU SkySong strategic program. Works closely with key community stakeholders to facilitate, identify, and communicate the contribution of the University to economic development. Supports connections with assigned economic development, entrepreneurial and technology organizations and business associations. Provides advisory services to partnering groups and explores collaborative opportunities to enhance linkages of selected value chain and its actors. Interacts with government entities and stimulates public policy modifications that can enhance Arizona’s business and economic climate. Supports ASU’s participation in local and national conferences, trade shows and/or business/economic events. Utilizes ASU’s intellectual capacity, data and research products to market ASU SkySong and Greater Phoenix, as well as to provide strategic information to company executives and economic decision-makers. Serves as ASU’s liaison to specific, assigned economic development, entrepreneurial and technology organizations and business associations by sitting on governing boards, advisory boards and task forces. Coordinates economic affairs messages with other OKED units to ensure consistent communications to faculty, staff and Arizona constituencies. Participates in the long-range planning, development of marketing strategies, and recommendation of goals for business attraction, retention, and assistance efforts. Coordinates with various businesses, agencies, community organizations, and University departments to conduct presentations and site tours for the purpose of promoting the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM Rate of Pay: 59,500-$63,000 per year; DOE Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a business related discipline or technology-related field AND four (4) years of related experience specifically in economic development, marketing and industrial relations, including one (1) year of supervisory/management; OR Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge of technology-based economic development and global business practices. Experience in: skilled strategic planning; analyzing; establishing priorities; maintaining and establishing effective working relationships and networking. Ability to interact with governmental entities. Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills.
