Information | The University of Virginia is seeking a Director of Economic Development who will work with internal and external partners to develop and implement an economic development strategy. The strategy will support economic development partners’ efforts to recruit and retain companies in Virginia; fuel growth through innovation, entrepreneurship, and research; and provide the education and skills needed by industry. The University is committed to being a strong economic development partner, working with industry, government, and academia to create positive economic impact and sustainable prosperity for communities across the Commonwealth. The Director of Economic Development is a key figure on the University’s economic development team. He/she provides leadership during the identification, coordination, direction, and implementation of economic development initiatives across the University. The Director represents the University to internal and external constituencies in economic development-related discussions. He/she works with relevant unit leaders in the development of proposals, incorporating school and institutional goals, priorities, and capabilities and maintaining strong communication throughout the process.
