Join us as guest speaker, Afroze Mohammed, Associate Director, Strategic Alliances at Virginia Tech, shares his insights.
Since 2014, Virginia Tech has collaborated with Urban Alliance, a non-profit organization that provides job skills training and paid internships for high school students from under-resourced backgrounds. The partnership started with students with an interest in STEM fields having internship placements in labs at Virginia Tech campuses in Northern Virginia. This Workshop will describe the VT / UA partnership, focusing on program design and outcomes. The goal is to create a springboard for discussion of how other UEDA members collaborate with schools to develop talent and how to ensure that disadvantaged segments of society participate in the innovation economy.
