Concurrent Session – Promising Practices for Institutionalizing Economic Engagement

This panel will discuss the 2-year process James Madison University used to examine the role, function, and organization of economic development at their institution. The presentation will highlight: the work of the year-long Economic Development Task Force; the process used to collect and analyze input from various stakeholder groups, associations, and materials and websites that led to a new University Economic Development Council (UEDC); and the work of the UEDC. The presentation will conclude with group interaction, where promising practices at different institutions are shared for all along the spectrum of economic development and community engagement to benefit.
